The do’s and don’ts of office chair safety

Office chairs generate a lot of accidents and injuries, believe it or not. — Check your chairs for damage every six months. Also, check to see if any parts need tightening or replacing.

— Keep all wheels on the floor at all times.

— If your chair has a tilting function, make sure it is tight enough for a controlled motion.

Here are a few don’ts:

— Don’t lean back in your chair. This could result in the chair slipping and sliding out from under you.

— Don’t lean too far forward in your chair. This could result in a tip-over accident as well.

— Never stand on a chair or use it in place of a step ladder.
